placed on this site.
What form of worship should I expect?Worship at First United Methodist Church in Littlefield, Texas is a combination of traditional and contemporary styles depending on which service you attend. A traditional service is held at 9:00 A.M. in the church sanctuary and a contemporary service begins at 11:00 A.M. in the church fellowship hall on the West end of the building. A typical traditional Worship Service begins with a processional by the choir and pastor. During this time, we'd like for you to fill out your connection card. Please give us your address so we can contact you later. Notice, in the bulletin there are suggested times for the congregation to stand. They are marked by a star beside them. These are suggested times and if you are unable to stand or prefer not to stand, please feel free to remain seated. What should I wear when I visit your church? What you are wearing is not so important as that you come. However, if you will feel more comfortable knowing how other members will be dressed, we usually a have great variety of dress from suits to jeans. Don't wait until you can buy "something special." Just come and worship with us.
Must I give an offering? As a visitor, feel free to give an offering if you choose. However, the choice to give an offering and the amount is not a requirement but a response to God's blessings. Our gifts and tithes are used in several ways. They are used for foreign and local missions along with the operation of First United Methodist Church. If you have a special cause you’d like your offering to go to, please note that on your check or put a note in the envelope provided for offering in the back of the pew in front of you.
What will my children do during church?A children's sermon is given each Sunday as a way to involve young children in the worship service. This is a short topic or object lesson geared to the understanding and interests of young children with the same topic as the days sermon. Encourage your child to join the others at the front of the church. Sometimes there is even candy! For the very young children we have a nursery with a paid staff. See room #1 on the floor plan.
What if I don't know what to do?The procedure, readings, words to songs and other information can be found in the bulletin. If you are ever unsure what to do and no one seems to notice, just ask for help. Our members would be more than glad to help you find your way.
